Yes! We offer secure Telehealth sessions in Illinois.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

At this time, in-person sessions are available only by special arrangement. If this interests you, let us know.

Are you accepting new clients?

Generally yes, though there might be a wait list. Please contact us to inquire about current availability.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. Presently we accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United Behavioral Health / Optum. Please contact us and we can help determine if we are in network. Or, contact your insurance provider directly.

Can I pay out-of-pocket?

Yes, we can accept direct payment.

Are you trauma-informed?

Yes. Bright Birds Psychotherapy is a trauma-informed practice, which means we prioritize creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment. We recognize the widespread impact of trauma, understand potential paths for recovery, and integrate that knowledge into our therapeutic approach.

What can I expect in my first session?

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, explore what brings you to therapy, and discuss your goals for our work together.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are typically 50+ minutes.

Do you see couples, families, or children?

At this time, we work with individual adults only.

Do you prescribe medication?

No, we do not prescribe medication. However, we can work collaboratively with your prescribing provider if medication is part of your overall treatment plan. If you are not currently working with a someone, we can offer referrals to trusted prescribers.

I’ve had a bad experience with therapy before. Should I try again?

Yes! It’s understandable to feel hesitant after a difficult or unhelpful therapy experience. Every therapist is different — with their own training, style, and approach. What matters most is finding someone you feel safe with and supported by. Therapy at Bright Birds Psychotherapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to you, with space for open communication about what is and isn’t working.
